Clubs can officially start making new signings now with the January transfer window open. The mid-season transfer market has notoriously been a tough window for teams to make significant changes to their squad.

But the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United have all made big moves in the past to prove that it can be done.

With City running away at the top of the table, both Chelsea and Liverpool may look to the January window for reinforcements.

Newcastle’s new-found riches will almost certainly be used for the first time in order to stave off relegation.

Express Sport is on hand to provide the latest gossip and potential moves throughout the January window.

  • Newcastle’s £50m bargain

Newcastle could potentially save £50million on Benfica forward Darwin Nunez in the January transfer window.

The striker has a reported £100m release clause, but Benfica would be willing to accept at least half of that, according to inews.

Nunez has impressed in Portugal since joining in 2020, scoring 32 goals in 66 games.

    Man Utd’s five signings

Manchester United are expected to be busy in the January transfer window with Ralf Rangnick looking to make some changes.

Express Sport takes a look at five incomings the United interim boss could look to make.

Amadou Haidara has already been linked with a move to Old Trafford while Franck Kessie is also attracting some attention.

It’s taken just 10 hours for the first Premier League deal to be announced.

Everton have now confirmed the capture of Vitaliy on a four-and-a-half year deal.

The full-back from Dynamo Kyiv for an undisclosed fee.

    Chelsea showdown talks

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted he will sit down to have showdown talks with Romelu Lukaku after the striker’s explosive comments this week.

The Belgium international caused shockwaves at Cobham after admitting that he’s unhappy at his current situation at the club.

And Tuchel insists Lukaku will be given a dressing down by the club as they get ready to face Liverpool at the weekend.

He said: “We will have talks. We will do it behind closed doors, and openly, like the relationship is and has always been.”
