Six clubs Tanguy Ndombele could sign for as Tottenham transfer exit looms

Tottenham may have survived an unlikely FA Cup scare against Morecambe on Sunday, but it appears that Tanguy Ndombele has signalled the end of his time in north London. The midfielder trudged off to a collection of jeers after being replaced by Oliver Skipp.

It's been clear for some time that Ndombele looks less than interested while sporting a Tottenham shirt, despite earning a healthy salary of £200,000-a-week as the club's record signing.

According to The Athletic, Ndombele wants to leave, and Spurs want him gone too, but there remains a standstill as there are limited options for the Frenchman due to his excessive wages not being backed up by any notable performances.

But Ndombele's storm down the tunnel while his team trailed to Morecambe said it all, and both the player and club will be desperate to sanction a January move, as long as Tottenham can find someone willing to offer the package required for the Frenchman to leave.

Here Daily Star Sport take a look at six options Ndombele may have as his days at Tottenham appears numbered…

Paris Saint-Germain

Ndombele found his initial success in France, and with Paris Saint-Germain looking for a midfielder there is a case that they could offer the Tottenham outcast an opportunity at the Parc des Princes.

Newly-signed Georginio Wijnaldum is still continuing to stutter and the Dutchman reportedly wants a Premier League return, opening the door for Ndombele should they offload the 31-year-old.

PSG are also appearing to play the waiting game for Paul Pogba, but if they grow impatient with the Frenchman's contract saga, then they could offer the Tottenham midfielder a deal instead.

The French giants are one of the richest sides in the world, and they demonstrated in the summer that they aren't afraid to flex their wealth with bumper contracts, making it a plausible option for Ndombele.

If PSG aren't quite rich enough to warrant Ndombele, then Newcastle might be, and the Magpies are actively looking for a new midfielder this month, according to reports.

Newcastle have been linked with pretty much everyone due to becoming the world's richest club at the end of last year, and Kieran Trippier became the inaugural signing to start their new era.

Eddie Howe's side have been linked with many out of favour Premier League stars as they look to bolster their own squad, and Ndombele could be a viable option should they take a punt on the Tottenham midfielder.

Ndombele also made arguably his best performance this season during a 3-2 win at St James' Park, providing the perfect audition in front of their new owners.

Ndombele has previously attracted interest from Barcelona in recent times, and there may be no better time for the Catalan side to table an offer for the Frenchman.

Barcelona remain financially coy due to their recent economic crisis, but Spurs have conceded that they are extremely unlikely to recoup anything like the £55m fee they spent of Ndombele two years ago.

Therefore, it could be a perfect time for Barcelona to try their luck, although Tottenham's initial priority will be finding someone to pay Ndombele's wages, or at least a large portion of them.

A loan would then make sense, but as we all know high wages were part of the problem that got Barcelona into this mess, so they must be extremely confident if they were to sanction a move.

Ndombele may have been signed by Mauricio Pochettino, but it was Jose Mourinho that was handed over the star shortly after he replaced the former Tottenham boss in 2019.

And Mourinho has remained interested in Ndombele too, and is even rumoured to table an offer for the Frenchman to bring the midfielder to Rome, according to Calciomercato.

Mourinho is keen to bolster his midfield and believes that Ndombele is a viable option, and it's likely that a loan move would be offered before exploring a potential deal.

However, the signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles may be an indication that Roma are holding back their funds for the time being, with Mourinho struggling as his side sit eighth in Serie A.

If all else fails, Ndombele could return to his former club Lyon, where he found his best form that warranted the big-money move in the first place.

Lyon are struggling in Ligue 1 and could use a major lift to help their season get back on track and they could be forced into the market for a new midfielder in the coming months regardless.

With the French side sitting in 11th, highly rated stars Houssem Aouar, Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paqueta are all likely to be subject to major interest in the summer, and Lyon may struggle to keep hold of their talented midfield trio.

Ndombele could be a viable replacement with one or two of the stars expected to move on, offering the Frenchman an unlikely homecoming.

AC Milan

Another Serie A side rumoured to be interested in Ndombele is AC Milan, and with Franck Kessie nearing an exit from the San Siro, the Tottenham outcast could be an ideal replacement.

Milan are thriving in Serie A and Ndombele is said to be looking for Champions League football, and there is a French contingent that could be a major lure for the midfielder.

Olivier Giroud, Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Tiemou Bakayoko are all currently enjoying life with Milan, and Ndombele could be drawn by the lifestyle that his compatriot's are relishing in this season.

Milan are a side that constantly dabble in the loan market, and a temporary deal could be the perfect audition before making a big decision next summer as Kessie prepares to depart.
