Sam Allardyce and Jay-Jay Okocha will forever be associated with the glory years at Bolton Wanderers – and fans were delighted to see them back together again at a charity match on Sunday afternoon.

A Wanderers All Stars side managed by Big Sam and featuring the likes of Okocha, Kevin Davies and Ivan Campo, took on the current Trotters team at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The match was part of the fundraising effort for the treatment of Bolton star Gethin Jones' mother, Karen, who has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).

Under Allardyce, the north west outfit finished as high as 6th in the 2004/05 season, helping them reach Europe where they would earn creditable results against the likes of Besiktas and Sevilla.

Okocha was a significant part of that success, with the Nigerian winger earning cult hero status at the club thanks to his playing style and goal celebrations.

Now 48, the star dazzled fans on his return and opened the scoring with a goal from the penalty spot. Typically, it was his celebration that had fans jumping for joy in the stands.

After finding the back of the net, there were amazing scenes as Okocha and Allardyce shared a brilliant moment on the fringes of the pitch.

The duo recreated their iconic dance routine before enjoying a touching embrace which received a huge cheer from the Wanderers crowd.

It was a fantastic afternoon for Bolton supporters, who got to see some of their favourite players return to the club who are now in League One.

Ivan Campo was one of the former England manager's greatest signings at any club, having convinced the then-Real Madrid man to swap Real Madrid for Bolton in 2002.

The likes of Jussi Jaaskelainen, Ricardo Gardner, Stelios Giannakopoulos and Kevin Davies also played in the match, which ended 7-4 to Ian Evatt's current side.
