Piers Morgan has taken to social media to blast Arsenal summer signing Kai Havertz after his Premier League debut in the Gunners 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal kicked-off their campaign with victory at The Emirates thanks to goals from Eddie Nkitah and Bakyo Saka, but Morgan was far from impressed with the German’s first league outing.
Havertz started the game in a midfield three with fellow summer signing Declan Rice and skipper Martin Odegaard, but failed to make a significant impact in the game.
His performance was criticised by Arsenal fan and TV presenter Morgan, as he sent a tweet out summing up the Gunners first game of the season.
Morgan tweeted: ‘I’ll take the win, but that was a poor 2nd half by Arsenal and I don’t understand why Forest had more desire/intensity than we did as the game went on. Nor do I understand what Havertz gives us.’

The 24-year-old swapped west London for north London in the summer by signing for Arsenal in a £65m deal from Chelsea.
His time at Stamford Bridge was largely seen as an underwhelming spell, scoring 32 goals in 132 appearances for the Blues as a succession of managers struggled to find an ideal position for the German international.
However, his name will always be etched into Chelsea folklore thanks to his winning strike in the 2021 Champions League Final victory over Manchester City.
Goals from Eddie Nkitah and Bakayo Saka were enough to seal the victory for Arsenal
Havertz may have been singled out by Morgan, but the famous Gunners supporter also questioned the team’s performance in the second half.
Mikel Arteta’s men went into the break 2-0 up against Nottingham Forest, but allowed the visitors to get themselves back into the game in the second half.
Taiwo Awoniyi pulled one back for Steve Cooper’s men eight minutes from time, but Arsenal held on to begin the season with a home victory.
