Newcastle boss Eddie Howe can expect to utilise the club’s vast riches in January when the transfer window opens after Amanda Staveley’s promise to the new Toon manager.

With Eddie Howe now in the hotseat, Newcastle’s new owners can finally start planning what to do with their large amounts of cash.

Led by Amanda Staveley, the Magpies are the richest club in the world and have got their man in charge.

And in a meeting with the squad, she has promised changes in the transfer window after goalkeeper Martin Dubravka disclosed details on the Toon’s plans.

He said: “Some reinforcements should come in January. It was positive for me that they came to us, and said plainly how things were.”

So, who could Howe sign in the winter transfer window?

Jesse Lingard

The favourite to sign is Jesse Lingard, who is out of contract at Manchester United at the end of the season and is looking for a new club.

After impressing at West Ham last season, he was promised a bigger role at Old Trafford but that has failed to come to light.

And he has already rejected a new deal with his boyhood club and United might have to sell in January to avoid losing him for nothing.

Donny van de Beek

Another with his eye on the exit door at Old Trafford, Donny van de Beek has switched agents in an attempt to leave United just 18 months after signing.

The Dutchman has been ostracised by Solskjaer at the club while Newcastle’s midfield is in dire need of improvement.

It is expected to be one of the first areas Howe will look at while a loan move could benefit all parties.

James Tarkowski

The Burnley star had been priced as high as £50m by Sean Dyche in the past but he is on the brink of losing the defender for nothing at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Newcastle have one of the worst defences in the Premier League – conceding the second-most behind Norwich with 24 goals shipped in 11 matches.

James Tarkowski would add some steel to their leaky backline while also having plenty of experience in the top-flight.

Divock Origi

Liverpool’s impressive frontline means it is tough for Divock Origi to get the consecutive game-time he craves – while the striker has proved he can score important goals.

Newcastle could offer him the first-team football he needs at this stage of his career with Callum Wilson’s difficult injury past

The Magpies are in desperate need of more firepower after letting Andy Carroll go at the end of the season while Dwight Gayle and Joelinton have nine Premier League goals between them since the Brazilian’s arrival in 2019.
