Napoli star sent off for ‘kicking the wrong balls’ in opponents intimate area

Napoli star Mario Rui was sent off in their Serie A clash with Empoli after he kicked an opponent in an intimate area.

The Portuguese full-back had tangled with Francesco Caputo, and he had reacted by appearing to kick out at the Empoli striker. The incident initially went unpunished by the on-field referee, but VAR picked up on the clash.

And after the referee went over to the monitor to review the incident, Rui was given his marching orders. However, the incident soon went viral on social media, with football fans joking Rui had kicked the wrong balls.
