Arsenal’s high-profile January transfer target was spotted deep in conversation with Shakhtar Donetsk chief Darijo Srna, as talks of a Gunners switch ramp up.
The Ukrainian star has been Mikel Arteta’s priority target in transfer market, with the saga extending several weeks due to his current club holding out for a higher price than the Gunners had appeared prepared to pay.
The 22-year-old has also drawn interest from Chelsea as talks drag on, despite the forward repeatedly making it clear that he would prefer a move to the Gunners on his social media accounts.

In a clip posted by Shakhtar on social media, the forward can be seen in an intense conversation with Croatian legend Srna, before the latter zips up his jumper and pats him on the shoulder, with the player leaving with a pensive look on his face.
Despite being five points clear at the top of the Premier League and having the second best goal tally, Arsenal have been keen on adding Mudryk to their forward unit.
The player is currently in Turkey with his club on a mid-winter training camp with the Ukrainian Premier Liga reaching the halfway point.
Arteta’s Gunners had been warned by Shakhtar that they only have a ‘minimal’ chance of landing their prize target in January as they refuse to meet his club’s £88million valuation.

The north London side had made an initial bid of £52m, which was increased to £62m after it was swiftly rebutted, however they still lie over £20m short of Donetsk’s request.
The Ukrainian has 10 goals this season with three of those coming 6 Champions League appearances where he also registered two assists.
The need to bring in a further goal supply to a clearly effective attack grew in severity following a knee injury to Gabriel Jesus whilst representing Brazil at the World Cup.

And after Monday night’s FA Cup victory over Oxford United, Arsenal boss Arteta reaffirmed their desire to bring in attacking reinforcements with Jesus unavailable.
‘The problem is that we have only one striker and to cope for that many months until Gabby is back is not easy,’ he said.
‘But we have to get the most out of the players that we have at the moment. If we can have some reinforcements, great.’
