A viral clip of Mason Mount’s remark about Southampton has come back to haunt him.
Chelsea midfielder Mount appeared on the Tubes & Ange Golf Life YouTube channel at the start of the season, where he was asked which Premier League side he first looks for when the fixtures are announced.
The 24-year-old, dressed in full golf clobber, replied with Southampton, while sporting a cheeky look on his face and smirking.

Mount was born and raised in Portsmouth, who happen to be the Saints’ bitter rivals. That, along with the fact the England international netted twice in last season’s 6-0 win at St Mary’s, were likely the reasons behind his niche answer.
But as with all things put on the internet, it has come back to bite the Blues star back. A snippet of Mount’s answer has now gone viral on TikTok in a clip where it is followed by James Ward-Prowse’s recent winner against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Saints captain Ward-Prowse scored a typically stunning free-kick on the stroke of half time to land another huge blow to Graham Potter’s side, who are currently tenth in the Premier League.
Mount’s lowly match-rating is also included in the club for good measure during a hugely disappointing campaign for the player personally.
The defeat also meant Southampton were able to complete the double over the west Londoners this season, having won 2-1 at home back in August.
Chelsea will make the short trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday for their next fixture, where they will face their bitter London rivals.
Spurs, managed by title-winning former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, currently sit 11 points ahead of the Blues despite Todd Boehly’s £323million January transfer window.
