Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick admitted this week that Anthony Martial will only be allowed to leave if a suitable offer comes in. Reports now suggest that could well come from Barcelona with Martial said to be one of three forwards ‘offered’ to the Spanish club.

Rangnick said he held a conversation with Martial recently which the forward stated his desire to leave.

The United boss said: “He explained to me he’s been at Manchester United now for the last seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.

“I think in a way this is understandable, I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, it’s also important to see the situation of the club.

“We have COVID-19 times, we have three competitions in which we still have high ambitions and want to be as successful as we can be.”

Rangnick’s comments indicate that no official approach had been made for Martial ahead of the January transfer window.

But his potential availability will alert some of Europe’s elite clubs and it appears as though Barcelona could be an option.

According to transfer reporter Gerard Romero, Martial has been ‘offered’ to Barcelona amid concerns over Ousmane Dembele’s future.

Dembele is out of contract at the end of the season with Barcelona still in negotiations with the Frenchman over a new deal.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Dembele wants to stay, but only if his demands are met.

And agents have taken notice of the growing situation at Barcelona with Martial potentially an option.

Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech and Tottenham outcast Bryan Gil have also been offered, according to the report.

Ziyech has struggled for regular minutes at Chelsea this season, starting just six Premier League matches.

He’s been an unused substitute in Chelsea’s last two matches and there are growing reports that he could look to leave.

Gil meanwhile has failed to hit the ground running since joining Tottenham in the summer as part of the deal which saw Erik Lamela join Sevilla.

He’s only recently returned to the fold after testing positive for Covid and has made two appearances from the bench.

But the Spaniard has failed to score in 15 appearances so far with some suggestions that he is not happy with his current situation.
