Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag reaches transfer agreement with owners

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag ‘is keen’ on the club pursuing a deal for Jeremie Frimpong with talks reportedly already taking place. Ten Hag has chopped and changed his full-backs options over the past few months, largely due to suspension or injuries.

Diogo Dalot established himself as United’s first-choice right-back early in the campaign with Aaron Wan-Bissaka frozen out until he was brought back to the side in December. After impressing in Dalot’s absence, Wan-Bissaka was given a run of games and he’s helped United keep back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League.

However, it’s on the right side of defence where United are still set to make changes in the summer transfer window. Despite the impressive displays from both Dalot and Wan-Bissaka this year, Ten Hag reportedly wants to bolster his options.

Bayer Leverkusen star Frimpong has been one of the breakout stars of the year in the Bundesliga and is attracting interest from all over Europe. But United are looking to steal a march on their rivals for Frimpong’s signature, according to the Manchester Evening News.

It’s claimed that United have already held talks with Frimpong’s representatives over a possible move this summer. The 22-year-old has been a revelation for Leverkusen this year, scoring eight goals as well as providing nine assists in all competitions.

The full-back began his career at United’s rivals Manchester City, but failed to break into the first team before joining Celtic in 2019. It was in the Scottish Premiership where he began to flourish before being picked up by Leverkusen in January 2021.

The report also adds that United may look to offload three full-backs this summer in a revamp out wide for Ten Hag. Both Dalot and Wan-Bissaka are said to face uncertain futures at the end of the season with a number of clubs already expressing an interest in the Portugal international.

Alex Telles also looks set to secure a permanent move away from Old Trafford having spent this year out on loan with Sevilla. It’s said that ‘provisional plans’ are also in place for Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams and Eric Bailly to be sold.

United’s priority remains to sign a striker in the summer, but they’re likely going to need to sell before they can buy.
