Liverpool fans rage after Mount escapes red card for kick out on Tsimikas

Liverpool fans have been left raging after Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount escaped a red card for an apparent 'kick out' on Kostas Tsimikas.

The England international appeared to leave one on the Liverpool defender during the first half of the blockbuster clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

With Tsimikas down injured on the pitch, Mount seemed to kick out at him as he walked away after checking if the Greek full-back was hurt or not.

However, Mount was not booked let alone sent off for the incident, despite their being a VAR check for a possible red card offence following the altercation.

That the check by VAR official Darren England did not even ask referee Anthony Taylor to watch the incident on the pitch side monitor further riled up the Reds fan base.

“How has Mount got away with nothing?” tweeted one supporter following the incident.

Another fan added: “Mount deserves to be sent off. That was a red.”

A third supporter tweeted: “Always good to see Mason Mount behaving like a spoiled child.”

Meanwhile, another fan wrote: “Mount is very very lucky, he should be off.”

Mount and Tsimikas' altercation was just one of a number of flashpoints during a pulsating first half, which started with Sadio Mane receiving a yellow card after just 15 seconds.

Mane then opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Mohamed Salah added another as the visitors raced into a two goal lead inside the opening half an hour.

Chelsea pegged them back before the interval, though, as Mateo Kovacic scored a fine volley before Christian Pulisic levelled the score in first half stoppage time.

There was more VAR drama, though, with fans left perplexed as to why a check was carried out on Kovacic's goal.
