Liverpool battle Juventus for Olympiacos wonderkid after sending scouts

Liverpool are reportedly involved in a transfer battle against Juventus, AC Milan and Brentford in the race to sign Olympiacos wonderkid Aguibou Camara.

Camara has played barely six months of senior football, but is already among the most exciting talents in Europe and attracting the interest of the Reds.

His career started in Lille, making his professional debut in March of this year, before he joined Greek giants Olympiacos in the summer transfer window.

The midfielder has starred since moving to the Athens side, becoming a regular in Pedro Martins’ team, making 17 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

With the versatility to play as a number 10, on the wing, in a front three or as a central midfielder, Camara’s performances have quickly drawn the eye of leading clubs.

He has scored five goals and notched two assists so far this season, including a spectacular opener in the derby win over AEK Athens last week.

Camara has also impressed on the European stage, starting all of Olympiakos Europa League group games as they secured their place in the knock stages with a match to spare.

Those displays have now set the stage for a transfer battle between Liverpool, Juve, Milan and Brentford.

Sportime journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos reports that the Reds sent a scout to the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium to observe Camara against Fenerbahce on Thursday.

But Jurgen Klopp is not the only one interested in signing Camara, with Sport24 reporting that Juve, Milan and Brentford have all also sent scouts to watch him.

The Sun report that Liverpool have already made contract with Camara’s representatives and it is expected that he will move to the Premier League by the start of next season.

It is thought that Olympiacos have slapped a £20million price tag on the wonderkid, easily affordable for Liverpool.
