Kai Havertz’s behind-the-scenes message to Arsenal team-mates about Chelsea

Kai Havertz has been speaking glowingly about Chelsea to his new Arsenal team-mates. He and Jorginho are set for their first returns to Stamford Bridge since leaving earlier this year.

Arsenal head to Chelsea on Saturday having beaten the Blues the last three times they have played them at their ground in the Premier League. Havertz and Jorginho either started or were in the Chelsea squad for all three of those games.

They will be in the opposite dugout at the weekend and the reaction from the home crowd will be intriguing. Havertz scored the winner for Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League final, a game which Jorginho also played the entirety of.

Jorginho also won the Europa League with Chelsea, coincidentally against Arsenal, in 2019 and made over 200 appearances for the club. But leaving to join a London rival may not have gone down well with the Stamford Bridge faithful.

But it appears the duo are not holding any grudges since their exits. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta revealed they have spoken in positive terms about Chelsea.

Asked whether Havertz is excited about Saturday’s match, Arteta said: “And Jorgi as well. I’m sure they will be [excited].

“They were there, they talk really highly about the club and everybody there. So it will be a special day for them.”

Chelsea head into the match having won their last three games in all competitions. They face an Arsenal side who are one of just two teams still unbeaten in the Premier League this season.

Arteta says he has been impressed with Chelsea and believes they deserve more points than they have managed so far. He said: “It is a big game and we know there is a big history between the two clubs and the type of games that we’ve played against them.

“It’s a very different one I think this season, I’ve been really impressed by Chelsea, I think they deserve much more than what they’ve got on the table. I think what Mauricio [Pochettino] has done in a really short time is phenomenal and we’re going to have to be at our best tomorrow.”

Arteta knows Pochettino well from their time together at Paris Saint-Germain earlier in their playing careers. He says the arrival of the Argentine was always going to bring success back to Chelsea.

He added: “First of all the manager and the coaching staff, the history of the club that they have and the players and squad that they have, it was going to happen. I think it has happened really quickly, not only the last three results.

“As I said I think they deserve much more in terms of results and points than what they already have. So you can see they are going to be up there.”
