Jesse Lingard ‘flushed last three years’ and will be ‘remembered for TikTok’

Free agent ex-Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard has been sensationally told he will only be remembered for his "TikTok videos" by talkSPORT host Simon Jordan.

The England international, 29, is a free agent following a dismal season at Old Trafford which saw him start just one Premier League game. Following a blistering loan spell at West Ham United, in which he registered nine goals in 16 appearances, Lingard was keen to finally prove his worth in Manchester and snubbed a summer return to the Hammers.

The decision to remain at Man Utd was a peculiar one. Lingard had finally found form at the London Stadium under a manager that recognised and, more importantly, played to his strengths, whereas he was always going to remain behind Bruno Fernandes in the Old Trafford pecking order.

Twelve months later, following a disastrous return to United, the 29-year-old is without a club and faces a race against time to be registered for the opening day of the new season. TalkSPORT's Simon Jordan believes he only has himself to blame.

"Jesse Lingard has taken three years of his career and flushed it because he doesn't accept the principles of he's not really regarded at Man United to get in their team," he said on TalkSPORT.

"He had an opportunity to go to West Ham, and he's made it about finances because he'd run down his contract to a free transfer.

"Because he knows that the free transfer side of things will enable his wage packet to be at a certain level and that's his choice." Jordan added: "Jesse Lingard will be remembered, for me, for TikTok videos."

Former loan club West Ham are leading the chase for Lingard's signature but Leicester City and Newcastle United retain an interest in the 32-time capped England midfielder.
