Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is in talks over a potential move to Italian side Lazio, according to reports.

Lloris has been seeking an exit from north London all summer and was omitted from their pre-season tour squad in order to try and find a potential new club.

And now, according to RMC Sport, the former France captain has found a side that he is ‘keen’ on joining,

The outlet claim that Lloris, 36, is in discussions with the Serie A outfit over a free transfer this summer.

A move to Lazio would see Lloris play in the Champions League campaign this season, which is a big selling factor for the former French captain.

The outlet also claim that the Italian side are pushing to recruit the Tottenham captain and are now awaiting the player’s response.

They suggest that Real Madrid are also monitoring Lloris’ situation following the season-ending injury sustained by Thibaut Courtois this week.

Courtois has suffered an ACL injury that could potentially rule him out for the entire season and Lloris has emerged as a potential option to replace him.

However, it is thought that there are other options in the market who are better suited to a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

In the case that Lloris leaves, Tottenham will need to appoint a new club captain and it is thought that Ange Postecoglou has already hinted at who that could be.

Postecoglou hailed the leadership qualities of Son Heung-min, hinting that he will be among the leading candidates for a future Tottenham captain.

‘I know Sonny really well, I’ve known him for a long time,’ said Postecoglou. ‘He’s an outstanding player, especially the way I like teams to play with wingers who are a goal threat, he’s elite.

‘He’s as good as anyone because he has that ability to play wide and play one on one, and the fact he scores goals is just priceless.

‘I’m looking forward to working with him. He’s another one that I think shows real leadership qualities. I look at him and he’s pretty much a conduit for the whole squad. He mixes in all groups. I don’t think it’s just because he’s popular.

‘What he’s done in the game he has a certain standing in the game. It’s good to see that influence on the group.
