Arsenal and Mikel Arteta secured their fourth consecutive Premier League victory in ruthless fashion against Norwich City – and things could get even better for the north Londoners. Bukayo Saka’s brace accompanied with goals from Kieran Tierney, Alexandre Lacazette, and Emile Smith Rowe saw Arsenal pulverise Dean Smith’s side into the Carrow Road turf on Boxing Day.

Their 5-0 victory over the relegation strugglers extended their lead over fifth placed Manchester United to six points, albeit with Ralf Rangnick’s side holding three games in hand over the Gunners.

Arsenal’s horrific start to the season which saw them lose their opening three matches of the season against Brentford, Chelsea, and Manchester City feels like a thing of the past as Arteta’s side are really clicking into play.

However, there could be room for even more fire power at Arsenal when the January transfer window takes shape.

It appears Arteta’s side are still looking to bolster their forward options amid Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s jettisoning and Alexandre Lacazette’s expiring contract nest summer.

Aubameyang’s days at Arsenal appear to be numbered after Arteta excluded him from the match-day squad for the fourth consecutive match in all competitions.

He has also been linked with various moves away from the Premier League, including but not limited to Barcelona and Juventus.

Meanwhile reports from L’Equipe have also claimed Lacazette has said no to Arsenal’s latest contract offer, meaning a free transfer at the end of his contract this summer is still expected.

To alleviate the potential exits of Aubameyang and Lacazette, Arteta seems to be eying further options in the forward areas.

And reports from Fichajes, via the Mirror, have claimed Arteta has given a resounding thumbs up for the Gunners to sign Philippe Coutinho in January.

The Brazilian was one of the best players in the Premier League during his time at Liverpool, but has fallen out of favour at Barcelona.

Moreover, the Gunners’ pursuit of Fiorentina hitman Dusan Vlahovic does not appear to be slowing down, while ESPN also understand they are still courting Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri.

However, one area which does not seem to be a concern anymore are the goalkeeper and defensive areas.

Aaron Ramsdale has been a revelation since his arrival from Bournemouth in the summer, while Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Kieran Tierney have been one of the best defences in the division.

Thomas Partey finally looks to have made the Emirates Stadium his home, while the versatile Martin Odegaard has often been the perfect creative counterbalance as the Ghanaian’s midfield partner.

Saka has been nothing short of exceptional for the Gunners from the right flank, but he could be further enhanced with the additions of Coutinho and En Nesyri in the frontline.

And the hitman who could very well be on the end of all of this wonderful service is Vlahovic.

While Smith Rowe has also enjoyed a sensational season, the young Englishman has proven to be a top-quality impact player, having netted in his last three consecutive matches when brought on from the bench.
