Fury’s brutal message to Man Utd flops after his club’s shameful Brighton loss

Tyson Fury has suggested Manchester United’s underperforming players should “f***ing retire” following their embarrassing defeat by Brighton on Saturday.

United suffered their worst defeat of the season at the Amex Stadium as Brighton ran out 4-0 winners in the Premier League game. The Seagulls comprehensively outplayed their opponents as goals from Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard left Ralf Rangnick’s side humiliated on the south coast.

The terrible result was United’s fifth successive away loss and means they cannot finish higher than their current spot of sixth in the Premier League. They still have one game left to play to conclude their awful campaign, but United fan Fury has questioned whether the current crop of players should even return for next season.

“Shocking this, we are having a shocking season. Bring on 2023,” he wrote as a caption on his Instagram story. But it was his voiceover while watching the game which really laid into the club’s players.

“I’ll tell you what, never mind the Gypsy King retiring, what [are] you saying [about] United!?” he said angrily. “Why don’t they f***ing retire? Get off!”

Fury’s comments about United come after the 33-year-old claimed his sixth-round knockout of Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium last month would be the last bout of his career. He is undefeated in his 33 professional fights and insisted on Friday he is happy to bow out.

"I am very happy and contented to be retired,” he said on social media. “It's been a long time coming and I am so much enjoying my retirement."

United’s interim manager Rangnick will step down to allow Erik ten Hag to take over after the final game of the season against Crystal Palace on May 22. But for now he has to take responsibility for yet another shocking performance from his side.

“To start with, it’s important that we apologise to our supporters who came all the way from Manchester to Brighton,” he said. “We were just not good enough from start to finish. The performance was not only poor, it was extremely poor.

“It was a humiliating defeat and even more so for a team like Manchester United. It’s not only that you lose 4-0, it was also the way we played and this is just unacceptable, very difficult to deal with and to cope.”
