Luton Town FC prepares for first ever Premier League match
The new Premier League season is finally here but FPL players will have some tough early decisions to make ahead of this weekend’s fixtures. All 20 clubs will begin their respective campaigns over the next few days and Express Sport is on hand to bring you the latest injury news concerning the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal…
Man Utd without Hojlund but Martial could return
Rasmus Hojlund will not be able to make his United debut against Wolves, with the Dane still nursing a minor injury sustained during pre-season training at Atalanta. A back issue was detected during Hojlund’s medical but he appears to be recovering well and has been running on the grass at Carrington over the last few days.
His absence could see Anthony Martial drafted in by Erik ten Hag despite the Frenchman missing every single one of United’s pre-season friendlies. The 27-year-old could well be involved against Wolves in some capacity, particularly with Hojlund out of action for the time being.
The likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo will also be sidelined this weekend but Tyrell Malacia might be in line to return.

Madueke nears Chelsea return as duo made to wait
Noni Madueke missed the entirety of Chelsea’s pre-season programme but could be in contention to feature against Liverpool on Sunday. He has returned to training in the last week, with Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino recently saying: “It’s only Noni that suffers [with an injury] but it is something that we think can be sorted in the next few days.”
It is a different story for Benoit Badiashile, though, with the Frenchman unfit to face Liverpool although he could return later this month if everything goes to plan. Christopher Nkunku, meanwhile, is out for the foreseeable future after undergoing surgery on a knee injury that turned out to be more serious than initially expected.
Arsenal sweating over two players with Jesus still out
Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko may be in line to play against Nottingham Forest on Saturday after making an 11-minute cameo in last week’s Game4Ukraine at Stamford Bridge. He has been sidelined with a calf injury as of late but Mikel Arteta recently offered a promising update on his situation, saying: “I think he’s going to start training with the team and hopefully we will have him back very soon.”
Jorginho missed the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City last Sunday but might be available this weekend, with Arteta likely to shed more light when he speaks to the media on Friday. However, the Gunners will remain without Gabriel Jesus, who is not expected back until after the international break in mid-September.

Other FPL injury news
Kevin De Bruyne could return to action for City against Burnley on Friday night after getting his first taste of pre-season football at Wembley last weekend. He later refused to confirm whether or not he would be fit enough to face the Clarets, saying: “You don’t know how the injury will be. Mostly in the past I’ve always been quite a quick healer.”
Liverpool will be hoping to welcome Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic back into the fold against Chelsea despite both players missing pre-season due to muscular injuries. The pair have been spotted in full training at Kirkby this week but only time will tell whether they are given the green light to partake in the Premier League’s opening weekend.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Moises Caicedo will feature for Brighton in their Premier League season opener against Luton Town on Saturday. The 21-year-old missed Brighton’s final friendly against Rayo Vallecano after Chelsea and Liverpool submitted big-money bids, although the Seagulls insisted that his absence was down to a tight hamstring.
