A footballer who boasts more followers than her Aston Villa boyfriend will miss out on featuring in this summer’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2022.

Alisha Lehmann, who has some seven million followers on Instagram, has said that she will not be able to feature in the upcoming tournament. Switzerland head coach Nils Nielsen had chosen her to be a member of the side. But she has said via Villa’s official site: “It’s a personal decision. I don’t feel mentally ready for a European tournament.”

The 23-year-old, who has scored six goals in 33 appearances for the Swiss, had a cracking season for the Villians and even won the Supporters' Player of the Season.

Indeed, the female player has amassed such a large amount of followers that it even trumps that of her boyfriend, Douglas Luiz, who has just some 900k.

The pair recently enjoyed a break away from England, posting images of them playing football on a beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lehmann also spent time away in Miami, Florida with team-mate Sarah Mayling.

There she uploaded a handful of risque snaps of her figure. As for her other half, AC Milan have reportedly ‘opened talks’ with the star.

The 24-year-old, who arrived from Manchester City in 2019, has been one of the key members under Steven Gerrard. Last season, he scored twice in 34 league appearances.

But with Boubacar Kamara signing a deal with the Midlands club this summer, speculation surrounds his future, especially as he has just one year left on his deal.

The Brazil international had been linked with Roma, with Jose Mourinho thought to be a long-term admirer.

But now it appears that it’s Milan who are in the driving seat, according to the Daily Mail.
