Football fans have been left feeling sick after an Aston Villa supporter shared a picture of raw chicken they claimed to have been served at a recent match.

Villa fan Ryan posted the stomach-churning shot of fried chicken with a pink, undercooked centre on top of a bed of chips the day after their 1-0 win over Fulham on Tuesday night.

Even worse, he had paid £11 for the privilege.

‘Chicken & chips with a side of salmonella at Villa Park last night. £11,’ he wrote.

It is not possible to verify when and where the picture was taken. Mail Sport has contacted Aston Villa for comment.

The post generated a reaction of shock from fellow football fans, with the popular feed Footy Scran replying with a humorous GIF.

One reply to the tweet read: ‘Just how I like my chicken, medium rare!!!!’

‘Stomach destroyingly good,’ said another response.

Another fan wrote: ‘I haven’t eaten inside the ground for years and upon seeing that picture it confirms I’ll continue with that trend!’

‘Not even close to being cooked,’ said another.

On the field, Villa are enjoying a great season with Unai Emery’s side potentially on course to qualify for Europe.

The win over Fulham, courtesy of a first-half goal by Tyrone Mings, lifted them to fifth place in the Premier League table, just five points off Manchester United in the last Champions League spot.
