- However, the Hammers do not want to sell the Brazilian in this transfer window
West Ham do not want to sell Lucas Paqueta in this window, but the Brazilian’s contract does contain an £85million buyout clause for next summer.
Manchester City have been linked with a £70m move for Paqueta this month.
But West Ham insiders say that is nowhere near their valuation, nor do they wish to lose their playmaker ahead of the new Premier League season.
City enquired about Paqueta at the same time that they made a move for Declan Rice, who ended up going to Arsenal for £105m.
Paqueta was one of West Ham’s stand-out players last season as they won the Europa Conference League.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City are actively trying to sign Paqueta ahead of the transfer deadline
This next campaign could prove tricky after the sale of Rice, though Edson Alvarez from Ajax is set to be announced as West Ham’s first signing of the summer at £35m.
Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse could soon join Alvarez as negotiations continue over that transfer.
Understandably, Paqueta would be interested in the City move, though the Premier League champions are likely to have to return for him next year as West Ham insist they are taking a strong stance.
