Former England star Kieron Dyer has been rushed to hospital to undergo a series of 'tests' following his recent collapse while filming Celebrity SAS.

Dyer, 42, picked up an injury during his appearance on the popular Channel 4 programme, in which celebrities take part in a number of gruelling SAS tasks.

While it is unclear whether the two incidents are directly linked, he suffered a punctured lung while wrestling which left him feeling like he was "drowning" on the TV show.

As a result of the injury Dyer was forced to withdraw from the show, having previously broken down in tears on camera as he recalled being abused as a child.

The ex-Newcastle and West Ham midfielder called his abuser a "monster" while opening up about the traumatising ordeal to Ant Middleton and Mark 'Billy' Billingham.

Dyer spent close to 15 years plying his trade in the Premier League, featuring 190 times in an eight-year stint at Newcastle before heading to West Ham – where a series of injury problems derailed his career.
