Eddie Nketiah has agreed a new long-term contract at Arsenal, ending months of speculation about his club future.
Earlier in the year it seemed as though the 23-year-old would be leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer in search of regular regular first team football.
However, he ended the season as Mikel Arteta’s first choice striker and scored five goals in the final seven matches of the campaign.
Eddie Nketiah has agreed a new contract at Arsenal, extending his nine-year stay at the club
Sportsmail reported last month that Arsenal had offered Nketiah a five-year deal worth in the region of £100,000-per-week. He was also offered a huge signing on bonus, believed to be up to £5million over the course of the deal.
West Ham, Crystal Palace and numerous clubs abroad – in particular the Bundesliga – had been hoping to take the forward on a free transfer.
‘I’m delighted Eddie is staying with us,’ Arteta said. ‘He represents what we are all about and all the values of the club.
‘We are very happy that he has extended his contract and now we have to get to work and continue to develop the great talent and person that we have in him.’

Arsenal’s number 14 shirt has been vacant since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left in January
Nketiah has been at Arsenal since the age of 14 and has scored 23 goals in 92 games since his debut in 2017.
The Gunners have also confirmed that Nketiah, who has worn number 30 in the last three seasons, will change to number 14 next season.
The number has been vacant since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s exit in January and was also famously donned by club legend Thierry Henry.
With Alexandre Lacazette joining Lyon, Arsenal will still be looking for additions upfront this summer and their pursuit of Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus is ongoing.
