Di Maria passed Juventus audition while club line up Kostic and Pogba

Angel Di Maria passed his Juventus audition with flying colours after dazzling against Italy as Old Lady will ramp up talks to sign him… while they’ll also swoop for Filip Kostic and secure Paul Pogba’s return

  • Juventus are set for a busy summer window with several targets now lined up
  • Angel Di Maria may arrive on a free after he dazzled against Italy at Wembley
  • Talks for the forward will be ramped up with the Old Lady keen to snap him up
  • Filip Kostic is also on the club’s radar, and the deal could cost around €15million
  • Meanwhile, Paul Pogba is closing in on a return to Turin after his Man United exit

Angel Di Maria defied his age and proved he is still in formidable shape while dazzling for Argentina in their ‘Grand Final’ triumph over Italy last night.

He humiliated Giorgio Chiellini for the second goal and ran both Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Emerson Palmieri ragged. The Azzurri’s players are likely to have experienced nightmares of him, but now, the winger could very well be on his way to Juventus.

After all, Di Maria passed his crash test with flying colours. He has proven that he can add something extra to the club’s attacking ranks and, in the next hours, the club will ramp up talks to sign him. Recent reports say he wants a one-year contract.

However, to obtain the Italian government’s Growth Decree, and its subsequent tax bonuses, he would have to put pen to paper on a two-year deal instead.

But regardless of the fine print, the 34-year-old can continue to be decisive with both his goals and assists. His potential future team-mate, Federico Bernardeschi, struggled at Wembley, however, in a game of mixed fortunes for the Old Lady.

Roberto Mancini handed Bernardeschi the No 10 shirt, but the player was unable to fill it in his worst international match. Di Maria, on the other hand, basked in a magical night – meaning a sliding doors moment may take place between the two.

That would see the former leave on a free transfer, while the latter would come in.

During the television report ‘TeoreMax – La version of Allegri’, the Juventus manager opened up on his football theories to Andrea Barzagli, a former defender at the club.

Intriguingly, it was revealed that the team could shape up with two wingers next season, in a return to a 4-3-3 formation. Dusan Vlahovic would line up in the No 9 spot, while a pairing of fast and aggressive wideman could complete the trident.

Di Maria is likely to be one of them, but what about the other?

Eintracht Frankfurt forward Filip Kostic could also join Juventus as part of their 4-3-3 system

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic has been identified as a target. He is widely viewed as the heir of Mario Mandzukic and, according to Sky Sport Germany, Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini has shown interested in him.

Kostic, 29, would cost around €15million (£12.7m). He has played for his country and is considered one of the best wingers in the Bundesliga. His reasonable price tag and low salary have pushed Juventus to put together a package to sign him.

They are not done there, either. Paul Pogba is closing in on a return to Turin. Allegri requires a playmaker for his 4-3-3 shape, and the midfielder, who will depart Manchester United as a free agent this summer, may be the perfect man for the job.

The same financial rule that is driving Di Maria’s arrival applies to Pogba, and the deal must be wrapped up by June 30 to take advantage of the tax benefits and cuts introduced by the government to help clubs in Italy to remain competitive.

Paul Pogba is closing in on a return to Turin, and is reportedly moving cars back to his old home

It is believed that work at Pogba’s old residence in the city has already begun, and neighbours have even noted that the first cars from his collection have arrived.

Tuttosport have confirmed that preparations are underway at his former home, with Pogba having left behind a piece of his heart, and several properties, in Turin.

His garage, which has laid empty for five years, has been filled in the last few days, a concrete sign that the superstar is on his way back. Pogba is set to enjoy a holiday first, before the final announcement on his future is then made to his followers.

He will leave Manchester United as a free agent, and his next move will be revealed shortly

It is said that that day may fall on June 17, the date a new Amazon series will air.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus wrapped up negotiations with a reasonable contract compared to what he was earning at Old Trafford.

Pogba gave up almost 40 per cent of his salary, settling for a contract until 2025 that contains the option of another year. Overall, it is worth €7.5m (£6.3m), plus €2.5m (£2.1m) in bonuses – and he will be handed a prominent role in the side next season.
