Cristiano Ronaldo has informed his team-mates that wishes to remain at Manchester United if Erik ten Hag wants him.
The attacker, 37, has a final year of his contract remaining at Old Trafford and he has ambitions of remaining there even though the northwest side failed to secure a top-four this season. It has previously been thought that the star would ask for a move if the side failed to obtain a spot in the Champions League.
But a source has told The Sun that the Portugal international is now wishing to stay and help the cause under the incoming manager.
The insider revealed: “Ronaldo told the players he’s not going anywhere unless the club say they don’t want him. No one is more disappointed than him about how the season has panned out.
“But he doesn’t want to leave on a low and wants to help get the club back into the Champions League and try and win a trophy next year.
“However, he has told them if the new boss wants to go in a different direction, then he will have no hard feelings and has no regrets about coming back to Old Trafford.”

Ronaldo is the club’s top scorer this campaign, having netted 18 goals in 29 Premier League games this season. But some have raised concerns that his appearances come at the expense of interim manager Ralf Rangnick ’s system.
However, 20-year-old winger Anthony Elanga spoke to club's official website about the positive impact he's had: 'You can see his record and the number of goals he's scored.
“He knows what it takes to get to the top so it's more than right to just speak to someone like that. And yeah, we have a chat the day before or even during a game. You might see us in the warm-up.
“He'll speak to me and Sancho together about what we can do in the game, to affect the games – and it's important to have someone like that in the team. He is someone I look up to and speak to and ask for advice and stuff. He is a special player to work with.”
