Cristiano Ronaldo ‘ready to quit Man Utd’ as he slaps down ultimatum on signings

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly ready to leave Manchester United this summer due to their lack of transfer activity.

Ronaldo’s future remains up in the air just one year after rejoining the Red Devils. His fairytale return was tarnished last season by United’s horrendous campaign which saw them finish sixth in the Premier League.

The 37-year-old showed he still has what it takes by scoring 24 goals in 38 games across all competitions, but is eager to compete for silverware immediately with time not on his side. And the legendary forward has now told United to sign quality players or face losing him.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Ronaldo has been left frustrated by the club’s lack of transfer ambition. The Portugal captain and leading all-time goal-scorer has told his inner circle that he will start looking for another club should Erik ten Hag’s lack of success in the market continue.

Ronaldo previously told the United website: “What I know about (Ten Hag) is he did a fantastic job for Ajax, that he's an experienced coach. But we need to give him time.

“Things need to change the way he wants. I hope we have success, of course, because, if you have success, all of Manchester is going to have success as well. I wish him the best.

“We are happy and excited, not only as players, but the supporters as well. I wish him the best and let's believe that, next year, we are going to win trophies.”

United are yet to sign a single player despite already losing Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic in a mass summer clearout. They are reportedly closing in on Ajax winger Antony, while their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong is expected to drag on due to Barcelona wanting a higher transfer fee.

Ronaldo himself still has another year left on his contract. But he could opt to leave the Old Trafford club again, with Juventus and Bayern Munich being the most likely destinations.
