Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has wished ‘outstanding human being’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all the best after the Norwegian lost his job at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer was sacked on Sunday morning, less than 24 hours after the dismal defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road.
Ronaldo, 36, was Solskjaer’s final signing at Old Trafford and the Portugal captain was one of the few players that stuck by Solskjaer during his final two months at the Theatre of Dreams.
And the former Real Madrid striker has become one of the final United players to send a message to Solskjaer by taking to his official Instagram account to wish the Norwegian ‘the best in whatever life has reserved’ for him.
‘He’s been my striker when I first came to Old Trafford and he’s been my coach since I came back to Man United,’ said Ronaldo.
‘But most of all, Ole is an outstanding human being.
‘I wish him the best in whatever his life has reserved for him.
‘Good luck, my friend. You deserve it.’
Michael Carrick has been placed in temporary charge for the side ahead of their clash against Villarreal.
United have confirmed their intention to appoint a new interim manager until the end of the season but should a long-term target such as Mauricio Pochettino or Brendan Rodgers be available, the club will appoint a successor to Solskjaer.
