Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand have voiced contrasting opinions on Harry Kane’s potential move to Bayern Munich, with the striker weighing up the move.

As reported by Mail Sport, both clubs have reached an agreement in principle and Kane will now have to decide whether he makes the big-money switch to Germany.

There had been a growing feeling that he was leaning toward staying with Spurs but the latest bid, worth over £95million, was reluctantly accepted after a lengthy saga.

And while Kane prepares to make a potentially career-defining choice, two Premier League legends found themselves on opposite sides of the fence on social media.

Indeed, Carragher has insisted that the ace would prefer to become the top-flight’s all-time record goal scorer, a feat he is rapidly closing in on achieving.

But Ferdinand believes clinching trophies trumps personal accolades.

‘Alan Shearer’s PL goal record gets talked about a lot more than his PL winners medal. That record will be huge for HK,’ Carragher wrote on Twitter.

‘The big plus for going to Bayern is to guarantee he plays CL football & a chance to win that trophy every season. It’s not about their domestic trophies, they’ll win them anyway & I’m sure he’d rather have the PL record than the Bundesliga!’

Moments later, Ferdinand waded into the debate and struck a differing tone.

‘You don’t start ya [sic] career saying you want to win the golden boot winner – you want to win things for ya team,’ he said.

Kane is within touching distance of the Premier League’s hallowed all-time top scorer record

‘You only make it personal honors when that’s ya only option! Good luck @HKane.’

Currently, Kane holds 213 goals to his name in the Premier League and finds himself just 47 behind Shearer. Should he remain at Spurs, he is certain to surpass him.

Regardless, the frontman wants his uncertain future resolved before Spurs begin their top-flight campaign against Brentford on Sunday.

Bayern have met all the conditions required to finally land their priority target, who would be paid in the region of £400,000-per-week by the Bundesliga champions.

The ace has one year left on his deal and has no intention of extending his contract this summer. He could, therefore, still leave as a free agent next year.
