Bukayo Saka limps off leaving England fans fretting ahead of World Cup

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has given England fans a worry after limping out of his side’s contest with Nottingham Forest.

Bukayo Saka, who provided the assist for Gabriel Martinelli’s opener at the Emirates, went down in discomfort, but continued to play before being taken off. The extent of his injury is not yet clear and manager Mikel Arteta may have just taken off the winger as a precautionary measure.

But fans' fears are already seeping through about whether the star will be able to feature in England’s World Cup campaign next month.

One fan said: “The FA, Premier league etc etc could easily have protected him more when it’s clear for all to see he is targeted for a lot of late heavy challenges that go ignored! Might cost them his talent at the World Cup now so… good show!”

Another tweeted: “Saka must stay fit by all means. Arsenal and England can't afford to miss him.”

A third wrote: “This is what happens when refs don’t give protection from constant fouling of talented players like Saka…now we have a problem and England may lose one of their most creative players. Let’s hope it’s not serious.”

Another stated: “England fans must be sweating with Saka going off. Funny part is that it's their own referees that caused this. He gets reffed differently.”

Last year Saka was named as part of England manager Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for Euro 2020. He has scored four goals for the Three Lions from his 20 appearances so far.

The attacker has become instrumental in the side’s recent success and will no doubt be hugely missed should he not be available for selection for the upcoming tournament in Qatar.

The winger has been in fine form for the Gunners this season already, netting five times, and is joint-second in the assist table with five, level with the likes of Everton’s Alex Iwobi and Manchester City’s Bernando Silva. The Citizen’s Kevin De Bruyne is top with six to his name so far.
