Potential Birmingham City owner Laurence Bassini has allegedly challenged Simon Jordan to a fight in a bizarre twist to his Blues bid.

Bassini was live on talkSPORT to talk about his bid – a £30 million purchase with £100million in added investment. However, the call descended into chaos as Bassini took repeated jibes at former Crystal Palace owner Jordan.

He said: “I’m about to take you to Birmingham City but first I want to say a couple of things. [The] last time we spoke, I want to be very clear on this, people say a lot of things about me and that’s fine.

“I never mock you and I don’t make fun of you. There’s been a lot of things that are said.

“Simon, when you say that I’m the ‘odd one’, I’ve never been disrespectful. It’s all going to come out now, I’ve just been on the phone with David Sullivan [West Ham co-owner] and we’ve had a long conversation.

“I’m now going to disclose some things, but Tyson Fury said he’s happy to train me, me and you can have a boxing match with £100m on it – which can go to charity!"

Even after their war of words had concluded over the phone, the pair took to Twitter to continue their argument.

Jordan shared a text message from Bassini that saw the potential Birmingham owner allegedly call him a 'c***'. And the English businessman doubled down on his stance he wanted to step into the ring with Jordan.

But any hints of a. bout were quickly squashed by Jordan, who said: "Btw – Laurence is more suited to a circus ring than boxing ring. Given I’m not 12, I won’t be taking him up on his offer."
