Beckham celebrates with new look as Messi sends Inter Miami to final

After years of mediocrity since Inter Miami was formed, co-owner David Beckham at last has something to celebrate with Lionel Messi leading the team to the Leagues Cup final with another masterful display. Beckham and his family have been on vacation in Italy enjoying a getaway and celebrating the team’s success from afar, and the Manchester United icon has been pictured with a new look.

Beckham’s hairstyle was always big news throughout his career, with youngsters copying the trendsetter when he mixed things up with Mohawks, hair dye and more. And even at 48 years old, more than a decade on from his last game, he remains one of the biggest style symbols in sports.

Hours after Miami romped into the Leagues Cup final with a 4-1 win at Philadelphia Union, powered by goals from Messi and Jordi Alba, Beckham and his wife Victoria – the Spice Girls star – plus two of their four children, Cruz, 18, and 12-year-old Harper, were spotted at the acclaimed Lo Scoglio Restaurant in Nerano off Italy’s Amalfi Coast on Wednesday.

Wearing a straw sunhat with a green sweater draped over his shoulders, Beckham concealed a freshly-shaved head akin to the style he rocked in 2001 when he scored a famous free-kick for England that secured their place at the 2002 World Cup finals. Victoria, meanwhile, wore a straw hat of her own, accompanied by a black dress and a stylish pair of shades amid the Mediterranean sunshine. After their meal, the family jumped on a boat and sped away.

Beckham was certainly delighted in the early hours of Wednesday morning as kept an eye on his club’s big game back in the U.S. An Impressive Philadelphia team was expected to be the toughest test Messi has faced since making his move to the South Florida club, but the Union were swept aside in a stunning first half.

Josef Martinez opened the scoring inside three minutes with a powerful finish before Messi doubled the lead soon after with a pinpoint strike from more than 30 yards out, his ninth goal in just six games for the club. Alba made it 3-0 before half time, bursting in behind the defence and finishing in style.

Miami had to weather a storm in the second half with Union desperately fighting to stay in the competition, and the hosts were buoyed by Alejandro Bedoya’s goal with a quarter of an hour left on the clock. But a place in the final was wrapped up by homegrown talent David Ruiz, who took his chance off the bench inside the final 10 minutes.

Beckham, who owns the club with Jorge and Jose Mas, will surely return to the U.S. to watch his team in their first ever final after forming five years ago. Gerardo Martino’s team will take on Nashville SC at their Geodis Park stadium on Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET.
