Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has remained coy over their bid to sign Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, insisting they are ‘working on several options’.

The Bundesliga champions are around £8.5million short of the Reds’ £42.5m valuation of the star attacker, with talks between both parties continuing.

As reported by Sportsmail, the Anfield outfit have so far rejected two previous bids, dismissing them out of hand with the feeling that they were derisory.

But the club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has remained coy over their proposals

Mane hinted after the Champions League final that he was keen for a new challenge this summer, and Bayern are in pole position as they look to strengthen their side.

But Salihamidzic has refused to be drawn into the saga surrounding the 30-year-old, instead pointing to the Bavarian club’s other attempts to recruit a new ace.

‘We’re working on several options in attack,’ he said. ‘The transfer market is not easy, it always depends on the financial possibilities of the club.

Mane has hinted his future lies away from Anfield, but two offers for him have been rejected

‘I don’t want to talk about players of other clubs.’

He went on to add: ‘Of course we can’t rely on one option to strengthen our attack. We must have several options.’

It is understood Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann has spoken to Mane in recent days.

The German side’s latest bid was worth £30m and had been tabled on Wednesday, although their initial package was raised from £21.5m to £23.5m.

The other £6.5m was set to only come outright if Mane won the Champions League three times at the Allianz Arena in addition to as many Ballon d’Or awards.

Liverpool, though, look to be preparing for the frontman’s exit. Indeed, they are now on the brink of completing a record signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

Sporting director Julian Ward jetted out to Lisbon over the weekend for talks with his counterpart Pedro Marques, and Nunez’s heart is set on a move to Merseyside.

In the process, he has turned down interest from Manchester United and Newcastle.

The forward will arrive for an initial £64m fee with a further £12.8m payable on appearances, as well as an additional £8.5m linked to the success of the team.

From the player’s point of view, the switch has been wrapped up. His personal terms have been agreed upon, and he will sign a six-year deal worth £120,000-a-week.
