Barcelona president Laporta caught on camera discussing Lewandowski transfer

Barcelona president Joan Laporta was caught on camera saying a move for Bayern Munich ace Robert Lewandowski is “more likely to come”.

The Catalans have been heavily linked with a move for the Polish hitman this summer. Laporta and head coach Xavi are believed to be determined to further refresh a frontline that has already been bolstered by the arrivals of Ferran Torres, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, and Adama Traore in January.

While the La Liga giants all but ruled themselves out of the race for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, Lewandowski appears to be very high up their list. And Laporta as caught on camera hinting that a move for the Pole could be on the cards.

While posing for photographs with what can be presumed are Barcelona fans, Laporta was asked about the possibility of signing Haaland and Lewandowski. And in a video posted by Cadena SER journalist Angel Garcia, Laporta was caught saying “this one is more likely to come” when asked about Lewandowski.

This video proceeds recent comments from the Blaugrana president which appeared to rule the club out of a potential move for Haaland. "I insist, I will not talk about specific players but I can tell you that we will not carry out any operation that puts the institution at risk,” Laporta said to Mundo Deportivo.

"It has been a maxim that we have followed since we became president again, it happened to us in various circumstances and we are going to continue with this philosophy, not to put the institution at risk with operations that, not even if we were already healthy, we would.

"So, you can talk about players, about big-money operations in which Barca is not going to lose its head.” The Catalans are still recovering from a traumatic financial period last summer which saw them fall foul of strict La Liga salary cap regulations.

This resulted in the Catalans having to say goodbye to Lionel Messi, as the Argentine was not able to sign a new deal at the club. Meanwhile, reports from the Daily Mail understand Manchester City have agreed a deal worth around £500,000 per week to bring Haaland to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.
