Arsenalhave submitted a formal transfer offer toLeeds Unitedfor Raphinha – but they face a few hurdles to actually sign the winger.
The Gunners have beenknown admirers of Raphinhafor some time, having kept a close eye on the Brazilian, who has 17 goals and 11 assists in 66 matches for Leeds. The 25-year-old has been a stand-out player for the Premier League side ever since arriving in a £17million deal from Rennes in October 2020.
Mikel Arteta ’s side have been busy in the summer transfer window so far, completing deals for Marquinhos, Matt Turner andFabio Vieira , whilealso pursuingManchester City striker Gabriel Jesus. According toThe Athletic , they have now formalised their efforts to sign Raphinha by contacting Leeds to make a first bid.

But the report states that the offer ‘fell well below Leeds’ valuation’ and is ‘expected to be rejected out of hand’. Arsenal face further barriers to landing the exciting winger too in the form of interest from Barcelona, Chelsea and Tottenham.
Raphinha is known to bekeen on a move to Barcelonathis summer and his agent, former Barca midfielder Deco, has already agreed personal terms with his old club for his client. However, the Catalan club’s financial problems make any deal difficult to complete and that has opened the door for a Premier League move.

While Raphinha has not submitted a formal transfer request, Leeds are understood to be sympathetic to his situation and will sell this summer, provided their asking price is met. With Raphinha under contract until June 2024, the Yorkshire club are in a fairly strong position andThe Expressreported recently that they have therefore put a £50m price tag on the Brazil international.
Barcelona remains Raphinha’s preferred move and The Athletic says Chelsea come second due to their offer of Champions League football and potential of winning trophies. Arsenal will play in the Europa League next season after finishing fifth and may face difficulties in their recruitment strategy because of it.
