Arsenal flop Nicolas Pepe is one of several players deemed dispensable by Mikel Arteta ahead of the January transfer window, reports claim. It’s been an underwhelming campaign for the £72million Ivorian once again this term, having failed to find the net in the Premier League in the club’s opening 15 matches.
This said, Pepe’s game time has been slashed in the past month with Arteta reluctant to call upon the former Lille winger.
Pepe has been an unused substitute in the club’s last six Premier League matches – managing just five minutes of action since mid-October.
It posed serious doubts about Pepe’s long-term future in north London given the nature of his rapid decline.
Although Pepe is yet to show his best at Arsenal, he did chalk up 10 goals in the Premier League last season and also contributed to the club’s FA Cup triumph in the 2019/20 season.

According to football.london, Pepe is one of several players Arteta is willing to entertain offers for in January.
It’s believed the Gunners are open to selling a number of stars in a bid to raise some additional funds to spend.
Pepe has already hinted that he will also consider an exit if his situation fails to improve.
He told Canal+ at the end of last season: “My aim is to play more, to have more game time.

“A player who plays is a happy player. For me, I want to rediscover my smile.
“Mikel Arteta wants me to be 100 per cent focused for the 90 minutes of the game. Then I see during training that I will be a substitute the following weekend.
“It’s frustrating for any player to be on the bench. The role of a super sub? The coach makes his choices. It’s up to me to show him so that I don’t have this role.”
Arsenal have already been linked with a handful of players ahead of the January transfer window, particularly in attack.
VOTE FOR YOUR PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE YEAR HERE
Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski is one player reportedly of interest to Arteta and Edu.
The 21-year-old Swede has struggled to live up to expectations in Turin following his arrival from Atalanta.
Furthermore, Arsenal are also preparing a shake up at centre-forward amid Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s struggles.
Eyebrows were raised on Monday night when Arteta brought on Eddie Nketiah – who recently rejected another new contract offer, with his deal up in the summer – ahead of Aubameyang and Pepe.
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one name of interest to the Gunners.
