Arsenal face strong competition for transfer target Philippe Coutinho after learning that the former Liverpool star is ‘attracted’ to another club. Barcelona midfielder Coutinho could be one of the players to leave the LaLiga club in the January transfer window.
The Gunners might hope to make the most of the fact that Barca need to balance their books to ease their huge debt.
Barca have been crippled by financial difficulty in the last year, leading to the departure of Lionel Messi and the wage cuts of several key players.
Coutinho could be one of the individuals who the Catalan outfit seek to relinquish next month, with the wage bill in need of downsizing.
The LaLiga side have already signed Ferran Torres ahead of the winter window and the former Manchester City forward will need to fit within the wage structure.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Coutinho, who signed for Barca from Liverpool in a staggering £130million move in 2018.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barca are happy to facilitate a loan to the north Londoners.
Coutinho would provide manager Mikel Arteta added competition for the midfield roles.
However, the Premier League side will need to compete for the 29-year-old’s signature with a club that he apparently ‘loves’.
A fresh report by Sport claims that Brazilian side Flamengo are an attractive proposition to Coutinho, whose Barca contract runs out in 2023.
Arsenal manager Arteta has already suggested that January business will be completed if their targets are made available.
“If you can tweak what you need to in that period, which is not easy, it would be really helpful,” Arteta said.
“We are working on that to see the necessities we can have and whether we can find the right solutions.”
Looking ahead to the summer, Arsenal are likely to enter the market to sign a new striker.

Arteta faces the rare situation of probably losing all three of his main forward options ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seems unlikely to rekindle his Arsenal career after being excluded from the first-team squad by his manager.
Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both have contracts that expire in the summer of 2022.
Arsenal have been linked with Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak and Lille’s Jonathan David.
