Lewis Hamilton previews 2023 Miami Grand Prix
The tight, twisting nature of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit perhaps makes qualifying more important in the Principality than anywhere else on the F1 calendar. Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and the rest of the grid will give it their best shot on Saturday ahead of the main event later this weekend.
Red Bull have proven dominant so far this season, but Ferrari showed during the two practice sessions on Friday that they have the capability to throw a spanner in the works. Carlos Sainz topped the charts in FP1, while he and Charles Leclerc joined Verstappen in the top three for FP2.
Mercedes are yet to properly announce themselves among the main contenders after introducing a much-anticipated upgrades package, but supporters will hope that the tide turns once qualifying gets underway.

George Russell sends Lewis Hamilton message
George Russell has taken a ruthless approach to rumours linking Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari, claiming that he ‘does not care’ whether his Mercedes team-mate jumps ship.
The 25-year-old has broadly exceeded expectations since joining up with Hamilton at the Silver Arrows and he remains ambitious for the future.
“I don’t care at all whether Lewis stays or Lewis goes, because I believe I can beat anyone on the grid,” he said ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.
Hamilton denied that he is poised to sign a big-money deal with Ferrari during his media duties earlier this week.
Max Verstappen comes clean on retirement plans
Two-time world champion Max Verstappen claims he would rather be watching F1 on a yacht than competing by the time he is 40.
The Red Bull star has already hinted that the demanding nature of the sport will prevent him from sticking around for the long haul.
And now he has shed new light on his retirement plans.
“Never say never, but I think I’ll be on the boat having a drink,” Verstappen told AS. “I already have many plans that I want to do outside of Formula 1, but we will see. If I have a competitive car it will be very difficult to say goodbye to this sport.”
