Footage of Oleksandr Usyk’s defensive masterclass has shown exactly why Anthony Joshua struggled to defeat the Ukrainian in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.

The 35-year-old boxer dazzled the Brit with brilliant footwork and slip counters throughout the fight, ultimately winning the bout by split decision and defending his IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight belts.

The video footage shows Usyk continually chipping away at Joshua after countlessly dodging the challenger’s efforts to land a left jab.

The frustrating nature of the fight – brought on largely by the Ukrainian’s defensive brilliance – prompted Joshua to lose his temper after the defeat.

The former world champion threw two of Usyk’s belts out of the ring and stormed off towards his dressing room, before returning to square up to the victor.

Joshua then grabbed the microphone to deliver an impassioned speech to the crowd, admitting that emotions had got the better of him.

The challenger cried during his post-fight press conference after losing his temper in the ring

The Brit said: ‘If you knew my story you would understand the passion.

‘I ain’t no f***ing amateur boxer from five-years-old that was an elite prospect from youth.

‘I was going to jail, I got bail and I started training my a*** off, because if I got sentenced I wanted to be able to fight.’

The Ukrainian still picked up two black eyes from his fight with Joshua despite defending well

In his post-fight interview, Joshua added: ‘I had two fights, one with Usyk and one with my emotions and both got the better of me.’

Despite evading the 32-year-old numerous times throughout the fight, Usyk was pictured sporting two blacks eyes at Jeddah airport on Sunday.

Sportsmail understands the Ukrainian’s team is already planning a huge unification fight against Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia this December.
