Bonk-mad Conor McGregor has as "much sex as possible" before UFC fights

Bonk-mad mixed martial artist Conor McGregor likes to have as "much sex as possible" the night before a UFC fight.

The Irish fighter is one of the sport's most eccentric and well-known figures, having also been named as the highest paid athlete in the world by Forbes last year. Having twice been UFC champion in two different weight divisions, McGregor does rely on a sex-related superstition when preparing himself for each of his bouts.

Asked by Conan O'Brien in 2015 about having sex before fights, he explained, via the Irish Independent: "That is most certainly a superstition that I do not abide by. I definitely have as much sex as possible."

McGregor had been speaking ahead of his featherweight interim title fight against Chad Mendes in July 2015, which he went on to win via a second round technical knockout.

He also claimed a performance of the night bonus thanks to his victory, showing the value of his pre-fight superstitions. The 33-year-old has been in a relationship with partner Dee Devlin since 2008 and the couple have three children together.

After claiming the interim belt, McGregor went on to unify the featherweight division five months later in December 2015, knocking out champion Jose Aldo just 13 seconds into the fight.

The next year, he became a two-weight world champion as he beat Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in New York City to claim the lightweight title.

McGregor remains one of the biggest stars in the UFC in 2022, despite losing three of his last four fights, and remains number nine in the current lightweight rankings.

Having broken his tibia in his last fight, a loss to Dustin Poirier back in July, McGregor is currently recovering from the injury and has shown his bulked up physique on social media in recent months.

Ahead of that return, he has also unveiled his £2.4million Lamborghini superyacht this week, as he makes the most of being the highest paid athlete in the world.
