Anthony Joshua pulls cheeky prank in training ahead of Usyk rematch

Anthony Joshua is seemingly in good spirits while training ahead of his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

The former two-time world heavyweight champion can be seen pulling a prank while in the gym in a video posted on his Instagram story. Joshua was giggling while waiting behind a curtain for his pal Ben Hines to walk through.

But as Ben emerged and walked past, Joshua leapt out at him and gave him a hilarious surprise. The cheeky video was captioned: "Good start to the morning. AJ 1-0 BH." It comes as the 32-year-old ramps up his preparations for the highly-anticipated rematch against Usyk.

Joshua is aiming to avenge the second defeat of his career, which was inflicted on him by the Ukrainian at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in September.

Usyk outclassed AJ as he went on to secure a unanimous points victory while snatching the Watford man's WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles. Joshua has been training for the rematch since the start of the year while Usyk has now been granted permission to leave Ukraine to begin his preparations, where he was defending his country following the Russian invasion.

Boxing legend Mike Tyson was critical of Joshua's approach in the first fight, insisting he failed to impose his superior size advantage against Usyk. Speaking on his podcast, he said: "The movement just threw him off. I've been there before when the movement, it's like dancing. Someone just can't keep up.

"I wouldn’t fight him right away unless I have had him in the gym with guys that are really awkward left-hand fighters. Because you know he is really outboxing, outsmarting. He wasn’t prepared to handle a guy with a good jab.

"Size means nothing. When you look at the statistics and they say he's 240, this guy's 220, you can't weigh somebody's will and desire, and determination.”

Although no date has been officially confirmed yet, the rematch is reportedly set to take place on July 23 and could be held in Saudi Arabia.
